Got this on the way home from dinner last night. I assume he didn't make it back to his hotel after a last "one for the road".
I was reading a while ago about the concept of satisficing (as opposed to maximising) - accepting that not all decisions you make will be optimal, and deciding that for some decisions you'll put in just enough effort to get a reasonable result rather than always looking a bit further for a better option. Apparently knowing how to let go of the need to make every decision perfectly is useful in having a happy life.
