Ride 542 2009
RIDE542 is a 24.5, 50 or 100 mile cycling challenge for recreation, competitive and first time cyclists of all ages and abilities.
The course follows Mt. Baker Highway (SR542) from the town of Glacier, WA. USA (e. 955ft) 24.5 miles to its terminus at Artist Point (e. 5140 ft), on the border of North Cascades National Park.
The road is closed to cars for 6 hours once every year for this event. The scenery is stunning and the event has to be one of the prettiest venues for a bicycle race in the United States.

skyline divide
Skyline Divide is a ridge on the north side of Mt Baker.
The ridge offers classic North Cascade splendor in all directions.
The ridge runs between 5400ft and 6,000ft and is popular with hikers, backpackers and horseman.
