Very well done. It often seems like once I get the hang of using flash I stop using it for a while and I'm back to re-learn all over again. The balanced fill worked well and you were able to maintain details without losing anything in either shadows or highlights. I do like the specular highlights in the cat's eyes.

Yep, your experiment worked very well Roy. I'm not familiar with iTTL BL, which I'm guessing means Back Light? I've got an SB-900 so I'll have to dig out the owners guide because I don't see BL listed ;~).

Oh, I get it, it's a "Roy Berger" specialty setting, LOL.
