The St. Lawrence College Vikings men's basketball team will enter the post-season on a high, after defeating the visiting Loyalist Lancers 71-63 in their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association season finale Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The Vikings finished the regular-season with a 12-8 record, good for fourth place in the OCAA East Division.

They will host a playoff game against the Fanshawe Falcons, fifth-place finishers in the OCAA West Division, this weekend. The time of that game is yet to be announced.

The winner of the game will advance to the OCAA final-eight championship tournament at Algonquin College in Ottawa, March 1-3.

The Vikings used a strong third-quarter to win the game. They entered the half up just 35-31, but outscored the Lancers 24-6 in the third quarter, to take a 57-37 lead into the fourth quarter. They held on in the fourth, despite being outscored by Loyalist 26-14.

Jordan Fresque, of Sault Ste. Marie, (pictured above) led Vikings scorers with 18 points. Freshman guard Sangee Martin, of Kingston, had 17 points and played all 40 minutes.

The Lancers were led by Patrick Kalala, of Toronto, with 17 points.

The Lancers end their season with a 7-13 record.
