Roger Eccleston 25th Anniversary Concert June 4, 2007
Twenty-five years ago this past spring a young man, presumably with hair, arrived in Kingston, from the wilds of far off Yorkshire. Celanese thought it was getting a QC guy the reality was Kingston was accquiring a musical mover and shaker. Roger in the last 25 years has created a folk club called "Sweet Folk All", was instrumental in the creation of the local Folk Festival, instigated the annual Pooh Sticks Regatta, pointed out that it a good idea to celebrate the summer solstice, created a folk radio show on CFRC the Queen's University radio station, brewed mega amounts of beer, and made lots of musical friends, five of which appear in this gallery. I am fortunate to number all of these people as friends of mine.
In order of appearance: Chris Whyman, Kingston's World Champion Town Crier; Roger E; Doug Reansbury amazing guitar wizard, singer & song writer; Roger James is a multi instrumentalist whose comedic skills can still make us laugh at routines we've heard a million times and still demand to hear yet again, Fred Werthman is a builder of boats, museum models and crafter of fine songs and finally Kevin Head another superb performer who also writes wonderfull tunes. This truly wonderful evening took place at the centre of the universe, The Kingston Brewing Company aka the Brew Pub on the 4th 0f June ,2007. Also it was a celebration to welcome Roger J and Fred back from the brink. Both have recently experienced very successfull bi-pass surgery. Everyone should make plans for 2032.
