The starting gun was fired and before anyone could take a step it was raining. Raining hard. Consequently the KSO was buttoned up in their tent, to protect all those wooden instruments and I was fortunate enough to take shelter under the Rogers canopy. It rained for the whole race and then some but the 700 plus participants carried on.

The 22nd annual Beat Beethoven 8k race and 4k fun walk/run. The objectives, one to get 8k under your runners before the Kingston Symphony Orchestra completes the playing of Beethoven's Fifth symphony,in 50 minutes, and two, to raise funds for said Symphony Orchestra and the local YMCA. These races are held all over the place but as far as we know the Kingston Symphony Orchestra is the only one in North America, that shows up and plays while the runners run and then put on a free concert.
