Baked Apples

Whitefish Montana view map

Sorry folks, but yes, this is poop. While walking in a state park in Whitefish MT my friend and I saw more and more of these fresh piles that were from a bear but until we saw the old apple orchard in the forested park we had a hard time figuring out what it had eaten. There was so much of it that you'd think a herd of bears had gorged themselves and may well have. It did make us nervous and we didn't stay long. However, I'd say the bears probably weren't hungry.

I would never have guessed what it was without your explanation. Probably a nicer photo of poop than I've seen before. ;)

Looks like they didn't digest them very good! The apples would be a lot easier for the bears to gather than tiny berries!

Great work with teh new lens, Linda, no matter what the subject matter.

It is easy to see that this was from a brown bear. Grizzy bear droppings have lot of bells in it, the type that people wear to keep the bears away.

Ha, well done, Linda. Clever title too.:-) You and the new lens are off to a fine start!

I'm just falling out laughing. Calling "Baked Apples" was a great lead-on.

At least it's a healthy diet, must have heard that "an apple a day keeps the Dr. away"!!

LOL! I would not have known what it was!

Bears love apples, as do other animals. I can see why you were nervous. Your last comment made me chuckle. Guess they weren't hungry if they were full of apples. But maybe they would like some dessert. :)
