This is my new backyard Absurdvatory.

This absurdvatory is the same exact one that Russell Croman came up with a while back http://www.rc-astro.com/equipment/old_observatory/index.htm It is a simple Arrow Sentry Storage Shed. I had to order mine from Northern Tools http://www.northerntool.com/ I was looking for an easy to setup observatory and decided that Russell had a good idea when he built his. I didn't want to build a roll off roof so this seemed to be the easiest solution. The Arrow Sentry is nice because if you leave out all the screws that hold the roof on, you can lift the roof off with out too much trouble.

Ralph, Don't know if you're still using your Absurdvatory, but I finally saw first light on mine tonight. It's been a storage shed for the last 4 years, with just the telescope stuff in it. I wish I had done a better job on the setup and done something similar to what you did, with the deck. Instead I mounted mine on the ground. Unfortunately because of the Meade Field Tripod + Equatorially mounted LX200, it's a bit of a bear to use visually. I plan to try some astrophotography soon. I remember last time we talked you had turned it into a roll-off roof shed. Do you have any notes or pictures on that? I'd appreciate it. Thanks, and dark skies.
