Advice for a newbie: Use a tripod... especially in low light. A tripod will make your photos much sharper. It also allows you to stand back and look at the composition...did I frame the shot the way I really wanted too? Am I chopping off part of the scene? It allows you to get the whole picture before hitting the button. (advice I got from "yp" and have taken to heart.)
