Challenge 52: Candid Expressions
Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The Holidays are here. Everyone is gathering together with family and friends. What better time than now to capture a few portraits. There will be lots of photo ops with family and friends gathered around. This Challenge is not about formal portraits, posed snapshots or photos of people smiling for the camera. The theme is Candid Expression.
Candid means the people didn't know you were going to take their picture. I hope it will inspire you to find simple images of people and capture the moment as your subjects are enjoying the holidays together.
I want to Challenge you to study people and expressions of the human experience such as humor, a connection between people, an expression of love or friendship, a soulful moment, a person's essence, the human condition or the holiday spirit. 'Tis the season, after all.
Everyone will be with family, friends and strangers at parties. Photo ops abound on Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas and New Years Eve. Look for people at parades, football games, street scenes, or just catch your kids sleeping on the couch. The photo might be of people you know, people at a party or people you find in your town or travels. These are people shots - no pets, wild animals or livestock.
Because it's the holidays and everyone is busy, the Challenge period will extend for 3 weeks. Due to the holidays I will not post Gallery Exhibits until Saturday, December 30. I may be able to log on and answer emails before then but no promises. I'll be on Christmas vacation.

Exhibition gallery submissions (2 per member) may have been taken at any time and with any brand of camera. There is no competition for the Exhibit.
The Challenge is open to all members of the Olympus Talk Forum and the photos must be taken with an Olympus digital camera. (Olympus DSLRs included).
Challenge entries (1 per member) must be taken and submitted during the challenge period which starts this Friday, December 22 at 11:PM Central Standard Time and runs through Saturday, January 13th at 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, USA. Clock: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=64
