Advice for a newbie: Think about each shot you take, don't just take a hundred hoping one or two will turn out. Just learn and practice one setting at a time, trying to learn too much at once will ruin the spontaneity and reduce the fun quotient. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but try the search engine first in case it's come up before. Enjoy the wonderful folks of the Oly forum! You may never find another group with as much heart!

Advice for a newbie: Use a tripod or a monopod... especially in low light. A tripod will make your photos much sharper. And remember, you are the determining factor behind the images. Regardless of what camera you are using, you are the overriding factor to success - have patience, experiment and ask questions. I've seen superb shots taken with disposal cameras...yes, that's right. And I've seen horrible photos taken with the likes of the Nikon F5 - all due to the inexperience of the photographer.
