Kastamonu Archeological Museum, 1910 C.E.

The Kastamonu Archeological Museum was planned by the architect Kemaleddin Bey and built for the Union and Progress Patrty (Ittihat ve Terraki Cemiyeti) in 1917. It is located in center of Kastamonu along the Karacomak creek. During the early times of the Republic the building housed many organizations such as the Turk Ocagi and the Peoples’ Party. On August 30th in 1925 Mustafa Kemal Ataturk gave his second Oration on the "Hat and Clothing Cultural Revolution" in Turkey in front of this building.

Later in 1945 it was turned into an Archeological Museum to house diverse pieces found at the archeological digs in the surrounding area. 1952 turned into a regional museum and now has many artifacts from the Paleolithic ages to the Ottoman times. However, I find this building as one of the best deigned and preserved small monumental structure from the First National Architectural Movement in Turkey.
