Johan, You left a comment in one of my hockey galleries. Thanks for the compliment. Yup, I shoot with the 70-200 2.8L. I tend to shoot at ISO 1600 at F2.8 and get a shutter speed of 1/400. At that speed, I'm underexposed by at least 1/2 stop (more like 3/4 to a full stop). I then bring the exposure up in RAW (generally using Raw Shooter Premium), crop, and start to correct white balance (which is not easy). I then move the image into Elements 3, where I use Neat Image to reduce the noise, then fix the levels, then brighten up the faces, and finally a touch of sharpening.

It is a long process for each pic, but its the only way I've found to get decent shots in what we call here a "hockey barn" -- you know the place, dark, odd lighting and cold.

Hi, Johan,
I just surfed over after searching "whitewater kayaking" in the PBase search engine. You have some incredible kayaking over there in Iceland. I especially liked the Tour de East 2004 gallery, as well at the other paddling shots. It looks like you can get your face scraped off on some of those drops if you're not careful. The rest of the Iceland scenery makes me want to plan my next vacation there, even if I don't bring my kayak. Keep up the great kayaking photography and don't get killed along the way.

Hej Johan!

I må hygge jer!

Hi Johan

I was just checking out your pictures and I must say they really portrait Icelands beauty. They are amazing! What really pleased me though was that I recognized some of the people. For instance Alli and the guy in the green kajak, I am sorry I can't think of his name but I seem to remember that he is a farmer. If you can figure out who they are than please say hi to them from Jonny and Ismael (the swiss guys in the old audi and with the old school boats). We were on a road and river trip around Iceland in spring 2002 and we met them on a river near Hekla the name of which I can't remember either, I know I am hopeless. After that we met Alli and some of his friends later on and padelled Stora laxa with them. Quite a ride! That wasn't the last we had seen of Alii though, he seems to be every where. We ran into him again after having been on jökulsa äusteri.
And I even seeem to believe that you and I have met before aswell. If so than I think it was on the iceberg lake in the south, I think it was called something like jökulsarlon? The lagoon which empties into the sea.
Well I hope you enjoy playing this coming summer in Iceland and I also hope I can come back one day.
All the best from the land of the cheese and steep creeks.
Jonny

Thank you Johan for visiting my on-line "Jordan Photo Galleries", and for taking the time to express such nice comments in my "Aqaba" album. I enjoyed browsing through your web-pages. Fantastic shots indeed!

Hejsan.

Greetings Johan,

I read your message on boof.com and replied, but found this site a day later after some inquisitive looking. I'd really like to findout about the rivers of Icaland and Scandanavia as well if you have any beta on them. I'm in the process of planning this trip and it would be helpful to speak with someone who knows the terrain. Wonderful photot galleries. I'm very impressed, and need to do the same thing myself. I live in Colorado, and if you're ever out this way, feel free to drop me a line. Abundant steep creeks and easy access are some of the virtues of Colorado whitewater. Take care.

Regards,
-Preston Lindbeck

Ville bare være en av de få utvalgte som har skrevet i gjesteboken din! Artige bilder! Kuult å se at det faktisk vokser trær på Island også. Må jo innrømme at jeg har vært litt i tvil...

Johan, thanks for the kind words about snowboarders and archetecture. I've actually only gone out to shoot snow boarders once and skateboarders once. I really want to do it more often since I liked so many of the shots taken the one day. I enjoy seeing your action shots in the COLD! Thanks again.

This is some of the most impressive photographic images I have ever seen, I am proud to say that I know this most skilled photographer by person.
Look at the light ... the angles ... the depth ... the nature .. ahem, sorry I just got a little carried away.

Spøk til side, kule bilder Johan
