This is the Triley Davidrumph built by Von Dutch in Tempe Arizona in 1972 and
these images are (2004 digital) photos of (1976 on paper) photos taken in Phoenix.
The photos of me on the bike are taken by my then wife Debbie and the photos
of the bike are taken by me. These are photos of photos. Photo #9 is the roadster
for which I traded the Triley Davidrumph, even exchange. I traded with Jap P Adams.

i remember von dutch in tempe. used to see him at the casa loma bar they called "the cave," wearing his flying eyeball t-shirt and khaki shorts with the ripped seat. i used to hang out at del nichol's "foreign motors" shop with my motorcycle racing buddy, jack, who now owns the porsche shop "stuttgart southwest." anyway, i had stopped by the von dutch shop one day, door was open but no one there so, as the custom of the day, i just browsed around. pretty soon i heard a vehicle coming down the street that sounded kinda like a tractor: slurp boom slurp boom. looked out the door to see von dutch riding what looked like a ww1 motorcycle, od color with number plate on the front fender. the slurp boom was the engine sucking air then firing. it was so low rpm you could hear the carburetor then the ignition. i recall that day he was striping a speedboat and had gone down the street to buy paint supplies. he was a cool guy, very laid back and easy going. it would be good to drink a beer with him again. thx jeff, for the memories.

This is Dutch,s sister,Virginia,just wondering how the restoring of my brothers bus was going and if you could send me a picture,that would be nice,about the Triley Davidrumph,I don't know how to find the bike,but maybe I could help you in some way to find it,I,m sure its really changed by now

Dutch was and will always be a great artist and designer.I didn't mean to make him look bad in any way.I loved him and respected him and admired his work, even when I was young.I wish more people could respond to this truley great man.I appologise if I affended his name in any way.Sincereley,Koral Mariano

Wanted to see if any body would like to se some rad designs from Dutch's great neice is doing ,inspired by the great "dutch"although she never saw him, I did, and I got to se him paint,and later I brought beer to the see him at the bus in Santa Paula,when I got a little older.Dutch was shaking the old beer cans around to see if there was any cig butts in the cans ,maybe a little swig left...What an awsome DUDE,I dig all the cool pics. thanks.check it out,she called herself Von Dutchess before anyone else did,go figure...

In the early 70s, the thing to do was build a chopper using a Harley engine in a Triunph frame. I watched Dutch build the Triley as his "reply" to the trend. His idea was to take a Harley FRAME and put a triumph ENGINE into it. Nice results!!
