Towels from Sellur made by local cheap labor women from the poor area.
A hard physical work, pulling the shuttle all day through the canvas while pushing the alternating threads up and down with their feet. Some women takes their youngest with them to their work till the age that they can go to school. I believe they are paid only by the work done, sometimes they don't appear at work at all, no work, no income, no social security here.
In front you see how fibers are spinned together to threads coming from several bobins to that big wheel.
They enjoyed our visit, to get all the attention once for their hard work on the loom.
