After a long drive starting from Mahabalipuram at 4 o'clock in the morning with all luggage packed on the motorbike and my friend Ochu sitting behind, passing Chengleput on to the highway to Trichy, having several pit-stops to eat and drink, my whole body covered wearing woollen gloves to avoid sun-burn .... finally we arrive in one day at Madurai after a 600 km drive.

Ochu's back is hurting, no matter, home again. There we got the bridge over the Vangai river at 5.30 in the evening. Children are playing in the water while a man is urinating under the ruins of a temple. We are looking at Sellur where Ochu lives and behind us is the centre of Madurai.

OK we are tired now, I bring Ochu at home and go quickly to my hotel to get a well earned night rest.
