I am born in Rouyn-Noranda, the national capital of copper.
Located at the heart of Abitibi-Témiscamingue,
the city was born from the prospections for minerals of the years 1920.
With its 30 000 inhabitants, Rouyn-Noranda is also a door on the boreal forest.

A correction: the presbytery of Evain is actually the presbytery of McWatters, a former municipality east of Rouyn-Noranda that is now part of the mega-city Rouyn-Noranda became after the merger in early 2000, where it's area grew to over 6 000 sq. km, making it one of the largest cities in Québec, and the population grew to over 40 000 inhabitants.

Very nice photos of Rouyn-Noranda where I grew up. Lived there for 25 years and go back every year to visit family. Just a slight correction: St-Joseph church is in fact St-Joseph Cathedral, the see of the bishop of the Diocese of Rouyn-Noranda.

Magnifique! C'est en effet très abitibien. Je connais mal Rouyn. Mais c'est magnifiquement montré ici. Je suis de Val d'Or. Alors on est deux à photographier l'Abitibi. Malheureusement n'ayant pas d'auto, je ne peux pas photographier tellement plus que Val d'Or et ses environs.
