I had to build a fence around the garden because the rabbits in the area were very fond of the vegetables and ate many of the plants when they first sprouted. I planted a wide variety of vegetables and they all did really well, even in the hot desert heat. There were lots of other visitors to the garden as well, including rattlesnakes.
Previously I had a gas stove for cooking but it broke, so I had to improvise. I tried to make a protected area for a campfire, but it wasn't the best for day-to-day cooking due to the high winds in the area. I later made a double wall “gasification” stove for cooking out of some old cans that I found laying around in the desert (shown in subsequent images).
