Lovely winter shot of this bird; I especially like the composition. We don't see this species here - it's very handsome.

Just how many varieties of wood peckers are there? This one is beautiful and I have never seen this species before.
The colors and composition are vary pleasing to my eye. This image is very nice.
I like the OOF foreground, it usually is a distraction but not here.

Nice catch, Finemom. I think that woodpecker needs a warm red cap in all that snow! I like the sharp focus on the bird with the fore and aft branches out of focus - brings the eye right to the subject.

Oh what a nice capture of this pretty bird. It took me awhile to find his proper name when I got a shot of him (I appreciate the photo all the more). He is a Red bellied Woodpecker. If you could see his tummy he has just a faint watercolor brushed on red in his feathers. I prefer bird shots that show a birds surrounding sometimes. Thanks for entering him!
