1st - c75 Time Passages - Ember Lane, by Alistair

Ember Lane, Bonsall and St James church. The church has been here since about the 13th century. I guess this scene hasn't changed much in 200 years.

Good light and shadows, The shadows keep the eye guessing.

All I can add is a heavy sigh and, like Shirley, a wish to be there. Just gorgeous, Alistair.

Really like this shot Alistair - you let just enough light in to really give it that early morning atmosphere. After reading Endika's comments you can almost hear someone with hard shoes walking down the streets. Thanks for sharing. brent

This photo is awesome. In addition to the technical perfection and the evident value as image, I want to remark the incredible atmosphere in this: you can almost see the time stopped, caught among these walls, like a prisoner in his cell, walking endless up and down. endika

Wow, what a superb image. The light and the mist make a lovely combination and that sharp spire is the upraised finger pointing to Heaven, as was the Gothic style. This is one of those magic shots that linger in the mind's eye.

Ironically, I'm currently reading Ken Follett's "The Pillars of the Earth" - a novel about the building of a twelfth-century English cathedral. Your entry makes a terrific accompaniment to that book (which I recommend to anyone interested in medieval cathedrals and the people who created them).

I'll keep coming back to look at this one.

Well, this theme has already delivered a couple of pictures with a very special light and mood. I love this picture.

Like a postcard, if your village wanted tourism this is the photo they should use to draw them in. I want to be there right now! Colin is right, it is stunning!

Just stunning, timeless quality to this image with that golden but at the same time subdued light.
