The Pied Wagtail L 16,5-19cm (6.4-7.4") is common in open landscapes specially farmland close to humans and water. Attracted by open plain surfaces like lawns, where it with rapid attacks catch insects. The Pied Wagtail is a gracious slim bird with a long black and white tail, which constant wags up and down. It is coloured in black white and grey colours. All variants have dark breast either black or grey. The male has during summertime a black crown and nape with a blue-grey back. It has a black bib, white wing bars and edges of the secondaries. The female looks like the male, but with less black at the nape, limited black crown. The nape and crown is sometimes grey. |
