Over the years, I've sorted through several hundred thousand Least Sandpipers and this is only the second leucistic Least I've ever found. The first being a bird found also in Lake Co, at the Phillippy Pits years ago. Seeing that they stand out like a sore thumb, there must not be very many around. When I ran across this bird in a dried up slough along the Mississippi River, I scared the heck out of Mike Todd as I jumped from the truck yelling get on this bird.
Mike took some nice photos with his camera but these were the best I could do with the old Sony.
