The COLD FRONT pays off...................
This bird was found coming to a rest area south of the landfill in Tunica County Mississippi. Coming in to land, I noted the pale unmarked primaries and a tail of like color that showed no apparent band. This photo was taken as the gulls were flushed by a Harrier. Note solid white or very pale primaries. The over all color of the bird was a cold gray-buff. The bill was mostly dark and the bird had long primaries and slimmer build than nearby Herring Gulls. I think the color of primaries and tail generally would eliminate a Kumlien's Gull. Hopefully others might find the bird and I'll try for better photos if I can get the bird on the ground in the open.
