Decidedly darker than surrounding Ring-bills. About the same size as most but maybe averaged slightly smaller than some but just as robust. Dark partial hood was not as dark as some Ring-bills but darker than most. The bird slept for long periods. It was flushed twice by Harriers but I could never pick the bird up in the masses as they all rose unexpectedly at once.
