Our original target was the Nebraska panhandle area around Sidney. We left Goodland and worked our way northwest… finding a considerable amount of mid level clouds and light precipitation. This led us to be drawn toward storms that formed during the afternoon in northeast Colorado. ANY storms were better than NO storms we figured. Given the pathetic conditions (weak shear and limited instability) – it was no surprise that the storms lacked defined structure and had a minimal amount of lightning. We found a couple of places to pull out the cameras between Sterling and Akron… but the day was generally uneventful.
