I first found this adult cormorant sitting on a nest at the Salt Plains NWR on May 16, 2008. This bird has only a hint of orange in the Loral area. Most noticeable when in direct sun light. Eye color appears to be blue-green. Gular pouch is yellowish and seems to be in between shape of DCCO & NECO. The tail appears to be long as in NECO. Also in one of the photos you can see the scapulars and they appear to be pointed not rounded. The bird has numerous white filoplumes on the head, neck, throat and face (including the Loral area). Head appears to be smallish as in NECO and not as big as DCCO.

At this rookery there were two NECO nest and at least a hundred DCCO nest. In the same tree with this odd cormorant there was a NECO nest and 5 DCCO nest. When approaced closely the NECOs would hunker down and stay on the nest, while the DCCOs would alwlays fly.

In addition to photos of this possible hybrid I have included photos of both NECO and DCCO for comparison.
