--- The 10,000 square foot Visitor Center offers visitors state-of-the art reception facilities, modern restrooms, an orientation theater and classroom, interpretive exhibit space, a museum shop facitity, and handicapped accessible. --- It serves as the historic site's new welcome center, greeting visitors and offering them information on daily programming, special event activites and other area attractions and amenities. ---
--- The centerpiece of the exhibit area is the preserved 24' x 28' 15 stars - 15 stripes - U. S. garrison flag that was captured by the British when they stormed Fort Niagara in December 1813. --- The huge flag is not only specific to the site, but has national significance as one of only 20 extant U.S. flags dating before 1815. ---
