Lviv Decorative Arts Museum
a rainy day in downtown Lviv...
...at the Decorative Arts museum
housed in a great turn-of-the-century building
the guidebook says it was a bank...
...but it looks like a theatre to us!
the museum holds Ukraine's largest clock collection...
...one of the best in Europe
also, over 4000 European art posters
the furniture collection includes Hutsul and Zakopane design motifs...
... from early 20thc. Ukraine...
...as well as Art Nouveau / Secession works from elsewhere in Europe
an early 19th c. etched glass bottle from Ukraine
up another flight of stairs
part of the collection of musical instruments
(a little tricky to get the shot with the guard watching us)
Marla decides she wants to move into the top floor...
...but the museum uses it to display contemporary folk art
still, the views of Prospect Svobody are fabulous
and there's some nice decorative art on the facing building also
now time to wind our way down and out...
