Simeone Automotive Museum -- Vic Elford and Porsche Race Cars, November 2010

Race car driver Vic Elford was the guest of honor of the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia at a dinner on Nov. 5 and a Porsche "demonstration day" on Nov. 6, 2010. The two events were sponsored by the Metropolitan Philadelphia Porsche Dealers. Elford spoke about his racing career and the Porsche race cars he drove with great success in the 1960s and 1970s.

The Porsches Elford "demonstrated" on the museum's 3-acre parking lot were a 1970 917LH that finished second in the 1970 Le Mans 24-hour race, a 962 that won the Sebring 12-hour race twice, and a re-creation of the 911 that he drove in the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally. Elford was among the most successful rally and sports car racing drivers of his generation, recording major victories at Daytona, Sebring, Targa Florio, Monte Carlo and the Nurburgring (6 times).
