Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion -- Bugatti Grand Prix, August 2010

The 2010 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion was held Aug. 12 through 15 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. I watched eight of the 10 races that ran on Aug. 14 but had to miss the ones held the next day because I attended the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

This gallery is the fifth of 10 in my 2010 series on the 2010 Motorsports Reunion, formerly called the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races. Featured here is the Bugatti Grand Prix, perhaps the largest gathering of Bugatti race cars since the 1930s.

Of the 34 cars entered, 30 were able to take part in the race (Group 4A). They came not only from all over the United States, but also from Australia, Britain, Canada, the Channel Islands, France, Holland, Luxembourg and Switzerland. The top 10 finishers were: (1st) Car No. 5, (2nd) No. 31, (3rd) No. 14, (4th) No. 1, (5th) No. 15, (6th) No. 4, (7th) No. 139, (8th) No. 30, (9th) No. 9, (10th) No. 68.

I shot the photos in this gallery with a handheld Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 18-200mm VR zoom. All are as-is, straight from the camera, with no post-processing except for cropping.
