Ford Model T Rides in Greenfield Village -- August 2008 ... Nikon D300

Ford Model T rides are a fairly new offering at The Henry Ford's Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. The formerly "authentic" dirt roads have been paved, no doubt to make the drive around the village easier and much less dusty.

The main attractions here are the ACTUAL homes and work sites of famous Americans. They include the New Jersey lab where Thomas Edison invented the light bulb and the phonograph, the Ohio bicycle shop and family home of Orville and Wilbur Wright, the Connecticut house of dictionary writer Noah Webster, the Michigan home of poet Robert Frost, the Illinois county courthouse in which the young Abraham Lincoln worked as a lawyer, the Ohio farm buildings of tiremaker Harvey Firestone, the Pennsylvania home of condiment maker H.J. Heinz, and many other historic structures associated with famous and high-achieving figures of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th.

Henry Ford bought these buildings and tranported them to Dearborn, sometimes including the soil on which they originally stood. They were then reerected to make up a life-size village that people can visit and trek through. Or ride through in horse drawn wagons, Ford Model T's and antique buses. For more information, visit http://www.thehenryford.org .

I shot all the photos in this gallery with a handheld Nikon D300 and 18-200mm Nikkor VR zoom lens. All the images are as-is straight from the camera, with no post-processing applied -- except for three pictures, which have the initials "PP" in their captions.
