28th February 2005, story time

Tamsin and Conor made dinner again tonight,
as they did last night.
And they cleared away,
They picked out the ingredients too.
All I had to do was slurp a couple of glasses of wine.
Mrs N was hovering about over them,
she doesn't quite trust them I think.
They seem to be growing up fast,
so it's good that they still like to hear me read a story.
They came in while I read to Aiden.
'Tom's Midnight Garden'
I read this when I was about ten or eleven,
it doesn't seem that long ago,
maybe I've not grown up yet either.

The look on the boy's face is fantastic - laughing waiting for the shutter to go!

Reading bedtime story is so important..

I lay on the floor, between my boys' beds and read to them most nights.
They're not too old yet.
Some wonderful things are common to good families.

You know they're growing when the bed feels like it's shrunk when they all climb in. Good on the kids for their culinary attempts & Mrs N for caring enough to watch over her flock.

Cozy, and I wonder who's enjoying it the most (the big kid, of course).

You know, my favorite memory of my Dad is when we snug out of our beds on Sunday mornings and crawled with Mom and Dad into bed. Mom usually got up, because we moved around to much, as soon Mom went to make breakfast, our Dad fished out a book and read to us. They will remember those times. Nice image and I agree, do not grow up.
