I am very impressed with you nature photographs Norman. Thanks for showing
You have some AMAZING talent on so many levels!!!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful and intelligent bird, (Raven) I love everything about them, I watch every show that is on TV about them also, the symbol they have with the native people, along with the eagle/bear/bison, it has a terrific history with the Indian culture, once again thank you for what you do for these wonderful creatures.
You really have a lot of beautiful motives around the corner.....
I have visited Canada a few times and love the possibilities for wildlife photography.
Keep up the good work.....
Norman, yours are some of the best wildlife photos I have ever seen. I will be back again and again to enjoy them. Thanks for sharing them.
please tell me when I can come by the studio to purchase some prints. I can't find your number online.
Gallery : Magnificent wildlife moments : L-22 ; L-24 ; L-73 Unbelievable Norman
Truly amazing photographs. You are a photographer with artistic talent,
and a high degree of technical ability. Some how you know what works, and
your photos do.
Absolutely blown away! One of my favorites is this one
, but for some reason I can't comment it.
Regards, Sander Broström,
I looked at your Raven portfolio first, and read some of the comments. I have always felt close to Raven, because I have often been helped/warned of danger by them. I wouldn't have found that out but for your site. this is not what I started out to say...YOur photographic art is mind-boggling, awe inspiring. I'm sharing your site with others, it's so wonderful. The ravens lead me to the other portfolios...thank you. I am from the Kamloops area and speak Raven somewhat. Better quit blathering...Thanks again
Thank you so much for coming to Squamish and engaging us with the results of your creative genius. You're a joy to listen to and the evening left me in a state of awe after feeling transported by the beauty that your photos represent.
Thank you very much for sharing so generously.
Please don't stay away for too long
Regards ~ Heather
A fantasic work my compliments
I think this is the best collection of wildlife pictures I have ever seen.
Amazing, I enjoyed it very very much.
larose forest photos
Just wanted to tell you how impressed I am by your galleries! The photos are simply stunning, each and every one a testament not only to your skill and talent, but to patience and a good knowledge of wildllife. Fantastic galleries!!! Will be back often. Thank you so much for sharing.
I am in awe of your work, it's spectacular! Bravo!!!
This is amazing stuff, Absolutely fabulous!
I just happened upon your photos and I'm both very impressed and very jealous. What glorious work and what spectacular photos of wildlife! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm looking forward to exploring all your galleries.
Oh my goodness! Or rather, Oh Your goodness!! I've just been through your gallery and am stunned by the patience and artistry behind each of your pictures -- the composition, the lighting, the animation or stillness, the wetness, the taste, the feel . . .beauty captured, or rather, beauty set free. Thank you for sharing this gift of beauty. And thank you for taking time to talk with us yesterday at Jericho. I have written the Stewardship Group about the matter of powered model boats and copied to you. Not sure what we can do, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Susan L
Congratulations on reaching two million. That is the least you deserve. Thanks for sharing your wonderful wilderness images with us.
Congrats on the two million, impressive, but your are such a magnificent photographer with wonderful evergreen subjects, who does not find you, misses out!
Thanks for sharing and freezing moments we cannot with our eyes!
Tena Koe (greetings, in Maori) from New Zealand
Having discovered one of your galleries, which rendered me speechless, I find you have a number of similar masterpieces............A humble 'thank you' for sharing your talent, and the beautiful animals and creatures you have captured so perfectly......
Aroha (warmest regards)
Thank you for sharing the most amazing pictures I have seen. Words cannot convey the beauty of your art.
Awesome site Norman - a real pleasure to view!
Happy New Year... and many happy shots in a new 2008. Thanks for Your support
You have given my wife and I losts of pleasure with your intelligent and precise photography. I particularly like the ravens which I'm trying, in vain, to photograpth in Haute Provence, where I live. Have not given up and, in the meantime, have photographed quite a few magpies that are also hard to take. Peter
Beautiful stuff. I can almost SEE your thought process in these photos. As much a learning experience as simply pleasing to look at. Thanks for the effort to post them. Sure makes Houston look pretty pale..
Nice to see your photographs! Wish we had had more time to talk. It was good to see you both again. cheers, Judith
These galleries are an inspiration for me. Amazing light. I will be back.

I spent some time tonight looking at all of your galleries. They are all spectacular! It's apparent that you've spent a lot of time in the outdoors to get such good work. I wish you continued success in your photography.
superb top notch work
Canada looks a superb place to visit judging by your photographs. Brilliant photography.
You have amazing skills.
Hi norman I must congratulate you on this marvellous collection of photographs. Your love and understanding of your subjects is very obvious.
This is one of my all time favourite galleries.
May I ask about the style sheets you use, are they your own ? They are very complimentary to your work.
Best wishes tony.
H M Schwieb
Great grizzly pics! You must have had some interesting moments to get those shots even with 700mm.
Found your work tonight via your Grizzly gallery, pure magic , fantastic work. Brb.
Norman, I really enjoyed viewing your galleries, and will return frequently. I've added you to my favorites.
Beautiful work. All of it.

I feel fortunate to have stumbled across your galleries.
I am touched deeply by your work, it goes far beyond a camera.
It's an emotional tribute to these gorgeous creatures and nature.
Wishing you continued success both on my behalf and theirs.
I'm so glad I found your galleries Norman - absolutely stunning! Thank you - inspiring is too small a word. Peter, from Ischia
Norman . . I enjoyed my time spent with your galleries. Your rich colors are wonderful. Everything, extremely nice!
I felt as if I have been on a nice 'trip' to parts unfamiliar to me. The experience was very calming. What a great thing to do with photography . . to get people to 'feel'.
I simpely wordless right now..awsome
Fantastic colours and composition. Congratulations!
All the best Tadj. It was a real pleasure visiting your galleries!

Absolutely stunning work, worthy of National Geographic. Thank you so very much for sharing your work - you're on my short list of "favorites". :)
Fabulous nature photography! It is like reading from pages of National Geographic! Do take a look at my documentary work and I appreciate all your comments and advice.
Chris and Caroline
Gorgeous pictures. Wish we were there enjoying the beauty of Brackendale's nature.
Caroline/Chris (CCA KEC)
You are unbelivable great photos ( i just got the 20d with the 24-70 L lens ) you inspire me to use it more.
Some of the most beautiful images I have seen from any camera, Norman. "WOW" seems woefully inadequate, but that's what I said when I opened most of your pictures.
My question is: How the heck did you get all these wildlife to pose for you like that? What did you offer as a bribe?
Great pictures, very inspiring.. keep up the good work.. Srini RR
Maurice Burke Photography
Beautiful work, Rich. Really nice composition and well presented.
Hi Norman, Hi Linda

I come here when I need to feel closer to my "West Coast Family".
Awesome photographs Norman.
Keep up the good work and create.
Very best regards
Beautiful pictures! I just came in here from a DP Review Sony forum posting link. Your work is AWESOME. I hope someday to be taking pictures like this with my F828/TCON-14b combo.
Hi Norman - just had a chance to check out your photos - they are fantastic! Keep up the good work and nice to see you and Linda the other night
Bev Williams (your old neighbour)
Hello, I enjoyed your photos.Thx for sharing. :)
Your galleries are very inspiring and some of your pictures are stunning. I live in the northwest also. Where do you go to take the coastal scenery and wildlife pictures? Thanks
I am sony F717 user too, but I don't have your skill to make it worth
Thank you for showing me the great photos
Norman, I have viewed a few pieces of your wonderful photographic work on the Sony Talk Forum at DPReview. I was reading many of the F828 posts, I have owned one since December and am learning to love it as it is my first real digital camera. I found your compositions some of the best that I saw there, and tonight I skipped on over here to feast. Wonderful, wonderful. You have a great gift with the camera. I am a finish carpenter/artist, multi-mediums and find the interest, intimacy and composition very artful indeed. Thank you very much for putting yourself up here to be appreciated. You raise the bar for every one who looks to reflect the interest and beauty in life.
I love your work. I read your article in the STF @ dpreview and enjoyed your comments.
The Lord has blessed you with both, talent in sight, and wisdom.
I wish my eye could see to compose a shot as you do. By your photos, it seems you have a great inner peace. This allows you to see beauty in your surroundings that others pass by without noticing.
Your work is really a work of art. May God continue to bless you with the ability to photograph the beauty in the world He has created.
John, Karyn, Denny & Moe
Enjoyed your photos relaxing over wine and clam chowder! Completely enchanting. Great talent, but, hey, look who you're related to. XOXO
I thought you might be my dentist. He has the same name and travels quite a bit. But I see you are not he. Regardless, your photographs are wonderful. I love the way you see things.
Never failed to be inspired by your work and very special "eye".
There is a long time that you are in my favorites, and you add consistently beautiful and interesting galleries. That's great.
Beautiful images Norman. I like the subtle color tones of many of your Northwest images. Regards, Ann
I have been viewing your photos again and each time I do I'm more and more impressed and in awe. They are much more than photos, they show who you are...your feeling for nature, your love of art, your sense of color...your ability to go inside the subject and give the person viewing your work the sense that they are seeing it right along with you...that they are there experiencing exactly what you are experiencing in that very moment. Thank you for sharing some of your great life moments!!!
Your East Coast Sister
ur pics are very beautiful....
welcome to my web show and my web... thanks
Mister Norman Rich, your artistry and Vancouver's natural beauty combine for an absolutely breathtaking gallery. Absolutely beautiful. I love your gallery.
Pierre's Bay Lodge & Marina
Hi! Stunning pictures! Heh, I thought you were coming over to show them on "Artists in Action Day"! Tove
F García Robles
Me parece un trabajo preciso y precioso
Followed your wilting flower link from samples and galleries. Just wanted to say that I am glad you posted there. As many, many others have said, these are a wonderful collection of art. Thank you for sharing.
You visited my home during Artists In Our Midst at the end of April and left me your website address. Love your images. Yes, we should get together, experiment, and see what happens.
Hi Norman. I enjoyed reading your comments at dpreview (Reflections). It looks like you have some wonderful galleries and I'll have to come back to check out more (slow connection). I just added you to my favorite artists . . . and gave you my vote for the one I viewed (so far). Tom
Enjoyed your 707 and 717 galleries. You certainly take both cameras to new heights.
Then again ...it's the photographer...not the camera he uses. I myself also use the 707
and just ordered a 717. If you have a chance I would appreciate any comments from you on my pbase galleries. Most of my images are urban oriented...the opposite of you. www.pbase.com/sproket
All the best.
Maybe these comments are not necessary, since you already know how much I appreciate you as a person, as a fine artist and as a photographer as well. Yet, every time I come back to your galleries -- and this is quite often! -- I feel this urging impulse to let you know that, when viewed as a whole, these wonderful pictures of the Canadian west coast constitute the most impressive series I've ever seen.
Your galleries are the best proof of what you have been advocating so consistently, when helping others to discover their abilities and become better photographers: "purposeful intent", "relaxed attention"... They reveal the true meaning and the full potential of this approach, to which you have added a highly individual sense of empathy, in front of nature and natural wonders, as well as a truly remarkable dedication to art.
Your friend, Marcel-Etienne
Simply wonderful photographs. I haven't seen all of them yet but have viewed a few. One I saw tonight was F717 - 2003 - Expressions | 17. The little girl walking along the edge of the river or whatever that is really caught my attention. She looks like she is deep in thought and thinking as she walks along. Then you realize she is just a little girl and it hits you more.
Hello mister Rich, my name is vincent. I am living in Belgium, i'm an actor. I met Marcel Etienne, one of your friends, i think. He explained me what is your way to create in photography and in painting. I was well impressed, so I wanted to dicover your work. And my feeling is that it's really primal art. a kind of "roots art". (please excuse me, my english is not very good). So I want to exprimate that to you.
Vincent from Belgium.
I happened upon your site because of your "Pacific Northwest Sampler"(I just moved from Seattle) and, holy cow dude, your pics are amazing! I shoot with a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S75 and my pics look nothing like yours. It's an amazing camera that takes amazing photos, but whatever model of Cyber-Shot you're using is magic in the hands of your talent. Thanks for the incredible pics for all of us to view. Be well...
WOW & wonderful. You are such an increadibly multi-talented artist! I always enjoy whatever medium you produce your artworks in. Looking forward to our visit in Vancouver.
All the very best.
I am a regular visitor to your photo website. I am refreshed whenever I enjoy all the photos there. I was choked with the photo No.17 Saltwater Treasures: f707. A lonely fish is swimming in trubid seawater with a drop of tear rolling down her gill. See her expression on her face,it is grievous and aimless. It reminds me of a story. One day, a fish said to the sea ¡° You can¡¯t feel my tears, for I am in you.¡± The sea said, ¡° I am feeling them, because you are in my heart.¡±
Thanks for your so many nice photos here.
It was a pleasure to look at your pictures. They are wonderful and I will visited your site again in the future. Thank for the explination by the picuters.
Gerrie (The Netherlands)
Thank you for your fantastic photographs! "Tonalities" is something, I should say.
I will try to study, looking at your galleries. I have F707 for 4 months.
I enjoyed my visit here a great deal. You have some stunning images here. Tranquility seems to be the thread that links my pictures with yours. :-) I will visit again. Best regards Nina
Gee Wizz! I have the same camera, but my pics aren't nearly as nice. I guess I had better study up! Keep up the fine work. You sure have the talent and the "eye" for it.
Hello, great pictures, vancover musst be very nice..
Hi Norman, Thanks for leading me to your beautiful images. Very inspirational and really emphasize the beauty of the natural world. Tony Puddicombe
Beautiful work. Wonderful colors and compositions.
Beautiful images along the coast. I like their colours and purity, and though they look simple, I know that they take a lot of work to "find", compose, select and post. We are in a relatively mild winter here in Ottawa, and it is hard to find picturesque subjects and landscapes at this time of year.
I have just acquired an F707 as well, my first digital camera, and your gallery provides inspiration. Thanks for posting these collections.
Congratulations on the excellent collection of Photos!
I have just seen this site and wanted you to know how much I like the solarized dog photo.I have this site bookmarked so will keep checking for new pictures.
I have been a professional graphic designer and photographer for 31 years.
I am also a perfectionist when doing an assignment(my own worst enemy).
I know what exceptional creative talent is.
Your work is with out a doubt, some of the best I have seen in any of the publications I have been involved in.Their have been many.
Your work goes beyond composition and into poetry. The Sony optics perform beautifully when in the hands of someone who can compose images of this quality.
I enjoyed your gallery and will look forward to other images you post in the future.
Asked for pics w/ more color than the DPR gallery-someone directed me here. Awesome photos w/ the 707 & great composition. Read your 707 imaging comments w/ interest, as I am about to buy 85 or 707. New, so don't know if a question is OK, but... despite your comments on the 707 for beginners, as someone who gets deep in new interests over time, would you say the 707 would be OK to start w/ manual settings and learn aperture/shutter over time, or would you advise the S85? Thanks and sorry if the question is a faux pas(?).
Jerry & Gemma
What beautiful pictures they are! I like Pacific Northwest the most.
What an eye for composition and color! On STF we get a lot of shots that are OK and very few that are wonderful... guess where yours fall? Thank you for sharing these!
(erichocinc on STF)
Found the link to your photo album while reading about Sony digital cameras at dpreview.com. I've used 35mm SLR cameras for 20 yrs now and I want to venture into the world of digital photography. I was doing image comparisons and I keep returning to the images shot with the 707, they seem so much more defined and brilliant than those of other Sony digital cameras. After seeing your spectacular images I have to say I'm quite impressed with not only the quality of the images from the 707, but your keen eye for photo composition and subject matter. I'm sitting here at work and after seeing the beautiful photos I want to escape outside somewhere and start shooting...well, of course it would be much nicer if I already had the digital camera! Getting close to purchasing but being very careful and choosy about doing so. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos and helping chalk up some points for the 707. - Roberta
You have obviously been blessed with the eye for form. I envy you.
Were those images really captured with a mere Sony 505V?
That's the same as Ansel Adams going into the hills and doing his 'thing' with a cardboard 'throwaway'!!
Thanks for letting me know about your web page Norman. Your feeling for the subjects and the intensity of their characteristics continues, no matter what medium you choose.
Norman, I was the guy on the R65 that came to look at your rental property. I had a look at your photos - good stuff. If you ahve any Photoshop questions, send me an email. Remember what I said about colour correction, curves are your best friend.
Hi, Norman...exquisite depth of colour...I feel the photos are cinematographic : they invite one to step into the scene to explore it further...They pick up the essence of the subject photographed.. (Isn't that what Emily Carr said art was all about?) Thanks for the experience...Cynthia
Thank you for posting your wonderful pictures. I think this is the best collection of Sony DSC-F505V pictures I have ever seen. I have owned a F505V for one year and have often visited the www.dpreview.com website to read about this great camera.
Now that the Sony DSC-F707 is available I had been eyeing it and wondering if I should get it and sell my F505V. The F505V was beginning to look dated and less desirable in light of all the build-up and excitement of the new cameras coming out. Well, since I came across your web site several days ago, you have renewed my appreciation for what the 505V can do and I think I will keep it and work on my skills as a photographer instead.
Your choice of subject matter is beautiful and interesting and though I live in Oregon you have helped renew in me an appreciation for the colorful and varied land that I live in. You are the Pekka Saarinen of the DCS-F505V!
P.S. How often do you use a polarizer lens?
Beautiful photographs, Norman. They make me wonder why I'm sitting at a desk instead of exploring the northwest coast.
Dias dos Reis
You have wanderful pieces of work (about a subject that I, personally don´t really enjoy too much).
You can, however, give a particular touch to each composition. And this quality has nothing to do with personal tastes.
Met in Genoa Bay Aug 18, 2001 - thanks for coming over to visit Norm and Linda.
We were on the Macgregor 26X. Waved at your boat on our way out next day!
See a photo of "Fairwinds" in Barkley Sound at:
Love your photography! They have a very different, intense appearance Great composition and gray scale in the case of the B/W
Look forward to your CD.
