Upon arrival in Burawai I disscussed purchasing grass with a dozen Koochies and Gujars. Usual at the end of a day of riding. Besides finding a place for us to stay, and for the horses, unloading the horses and making sure they were comfortable and safe, came the all important job of finding a meal for 4 tired heavybreed horses. Here I ended up going back up the road with a local to some houses on the hillside where the inhabitants were busy bundling grass and piling it on their rooftops to store for winter (under plastic tarps). We negotiated for enough for dinner and breakfast, and with the aid of a few young boys carried it back down to the guesthouse.
