As of 2007, there are 277 'known' boats on the Great Lakes area Fleets and Flotillas list. We are always keeping an eye out for and find a few boats from time to time that are not in the lists and happily add them to 'our family'.

74 of these boats are in the Greater Toronto Squadron:
West of Humber Flotilla - 17 boats, West Toronto Flotilla - 13 boats, RCYC Flotilla - 13 boats,
East Toronto Flotilla - 13 boats, East of Toronto Flotilla - 14 boats

There are also nearby . . . 1 boat on the Muskoka Lakes, 3 boats on Lake Simcoe, 3 boats in Ottawa, and at least 1 boat on the Finger Lakes.



On March 25, 2007 47 crew from 29 boats in the USA and Canada met for a Social at the Mimico Cruising Club in Toronto. http://www.mimicocruisingclub.com/ There was a luncheon, seminars, and . . . most importantly . . . an organizational meeting that voted Great Lakes Nonsuch into existence. The following were elected . . . Sylvie Lavoie - Purser/Treasurer, Ray Barrick - Signals Officer/Secretary, Arthur Langley - Commodore, plus a number of Life Members. Many guidelines/by-laws were discussed and voted into effect.

Some of the Officers needed for 2 Squadrons plus 8 Flotilla Captains for the West-Lake Ontario Fleet (118 boats) were elected.

Though some Flotilla Captains had volunteered to serve not enough boat crews were present to allow 'formally' organizing the other lakes by vote at this meeting.

Fleet and Flotilla Officers are wanted and needed in 2008 for parts of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

ANNUAL GOALS:

- at least one Rendezvous, one Sail-In, and one off season Social per Fleet

- more events for any one Fleet if the majority of those boat crews discuss, agree, and vote to do so
