Photos were taken on a very rainy dark day in Sedalia.. Had photographed this depot many years ago, before restoration. This is one BEAUTIFUL depot museum.. Has displays inside covering the Sedalia railroad shops and other city historical places. One thing that I was really impressed with, was the fact, that they have a Rowdy Yates link to Sedalia.. He was the drover on the 1960s tv series called "Rawhide" which was portrayed as heading to the markets in Sedalia... Rowdy Yates was played by a upcoming young actor by the name of Clint Eastwood.. Anyway, a great museum to visit and to appreciate the great work of the city and the museum folks!.... Christmas at the Depot was being set up during my quick visit there... It's nice to see the station restored to it's current state. The members of the Katy Railroad Historical Society visited the depot in April of 2001 and restoration efforts were underway.
The rooms were empty but the future was bright for his historic building. I look forward to visiting on my next trip to the area.

Nice pictures; I was never inside the depot, but we drove by it many times en route to my great uncle Roy Parsons' house a block east of the tracks. He was an engineer on the MKT, and when he retired in the early 1960s, his usual run was the Katy Flyer from Franklin, MO, to Parsons, KS. He made the transition from steam to Diesel, and he seemed to like the new technology.

"Thank You" for sharing. I grew up and now live near Junction City, Kansas, the birthplace of the Union Pacific Southern Branch (aka Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad) and our community lost its MKT depot many years ago as well as the UPRR one across the tracks to the west. The city of Council Grove Kansas still has an intact MKT depot. Not many other vestiges of the Katy are left. Your community is so very lucky to have saved the Sedalia depot for posterity.
