Hello All!! I was looking to see if anyone has any information and photos of the "Columbus Drag Strip" Which was located on old route 40 about 2 1/2 miles out of Reynoldsburg, OHIO ?? Or anything about the car club the Pipers out of The COlumbus Reynoldsburg area ?? My wifes dad Ed Eubanks Was a member and he and his club raced there. My wifes family still has the 1947 Ford Super Deluxe that was the first car to do over 100mph in (ohio) 1957 at this drag strip. We are trying to learn more. Thanks .Dave

It's nice too see all these old photos. Went to my first race at the Southwinds in 1967. Spent many summers hanging off the guardrails watching Jerry Ruth, Hank Johnson, Jeb Allen and Herm Peterson. Worked at the track, when Dave and Charlotte Collins ran it. Was there when the SDRA took over operations. Haven't been at the track for 3 or 4 years now. Looking forward to the 50 the Anniversary in 2016 too see some old faces!

Blue Dreamer was owned by my father in law John Neufeld. The car currently sits outside of our restoration shop Carnduff Carriage Works. My husband, Keith, says it is one of the reasons we have gained some of the clients we have. The car to this day still attracts attention. Blue Dreamer was named by Keith's mother when she was 9 months pregnant with him. Although my husband does not race his passion to resurrect vintage vehicles is a derivative from watching his dad ready himself to leave the line at SIR. Keith built "Dreamer II", a show quality car, that was unveiled to the owner and the public at the 2011 Super run in Saskatoon. It won the street machine class. We continue to restore and customize high end products for clients and at the end of the day Blue Dreamer will live again.

Has anyone seen any of the 1973 to 1975 national dragster mags. As I have been trying to find out what the fron page looks like for those two years as I raced at U.S. 131 Dragway in a 1970 duster running E/SA and ran against the USA 1 Cougar out of Grand Rapids Michigan and we are supposed to be on one of the covers of the magazine and haven't been able to find out if its true or not. I haven't seen any pics of my pink and black duster 340 running against USA 1 cougar anywhere. Has anyone seen any pics as someone sent me a name and email address a few years ago and have lost it. Thanks

Does anybody have pictures of Randy Wilson's 1972 Duster that competed at Cayuga, Sanair in Quebec and Georgtown. The Duster was blue with white stripes. Competed for Valvoline at the 1972 Nationals at Sanair Quebec.

I am looking for any picture of Gary Morgan from Arkansas who was runner up in A modified production in the late 60s, drove a red Chevy Camaro with a Chevy emblem on the side of it. I also know he was photographed and interviewed by National Dragster in the late 60s in Lakeland,TN...he drove a black Chevy Camaro, 66 model. Anything is appreciated.

I have some old photos from the seventies mostly from SIR. I raced there in the late seventies i had a 1955 chev that looked like the american graffiti chev 2 dr post.
I also have a photo of the original scraper falcon before the engine went into the mustang later.
I also had the first JR Dragster at the track. I hope someone has photos of it we raffled it off to raise money to repave the track back then. I also raced the white 1966 charger called The Last Spike!!! It is the white and red charger running there now!!!!

Someone wanted to know about an old sling shot dragster called THE BALL BREAKER EXPRESS.
I think it is in a guys garage here in Regina last time i saw it. Richard Shufeld ran ithe was tech with me at SIR years ago. A person named Dale Bolen would maybe know where it is now last name could be spelled Boelen, he worked for sometime for CK62 RADIO when it was still an oldies station here in Regina
Also I owned an auto body shop here and my bodyman john was the original driver of scrapper falcon in the sixties. Back then it was a legal MP class car!!!

To who ever is looking for the Old Trapper.If I am not mistaken, Jim Ronnagan raced it and sold it and it became Tuff-A-Nuff it is a 70 Cuda and is back to factory specs, except for the headers, today and driving around from time to time. All the pics are in here. Thanks to all the people whom saved and took the time to put them om here. What happened to all the good old boys, You only see the big sponsor names on cars today.

I remember many races at Glendive. Was a great track and have lots of memories from there also. I can recall racing at S'toon on Sat then off to Glendive for Sunday. Thank god for memories !!

What a trip down memory lane!I'm from Glendive Mt.U.S.A.,home of what used to be Hustlers Dragway.And looking at these vintage pictures, I see a quite a few of the cars that raced at Hustlers Dragway.From the Old Farmer&Wheeler Dealer Anglias to Harv and Dave Froms B/A 23T altered.I went to my first drag race in 1968 in Glendive at the age of 4 years old.And to look at these pictures from the past has taken me back to my younger days.So thank you and long live N.H.R.A. Championship Drag Racing!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic stuff! Really brings back memories of `back in the day``! I am currently building a model of the ford of canada cougar and the picture on page 24 titled `ford of canada`s traveling performance clinic visiting SIR 1970 would be very usefull to us, (mainly the painter, check out herelart.com),can I purchase a super high resolution copy of this picture, as we have not got any good front shots of the car. As an aside, this car became a very famous street racer in toronto wearing the same paint (harveys jane-401)and is now restored and living in Barrie Ontario (with the same paint job).

Very good site i do have a comment about the picture SB-40JPG,very cool funnycar the funny thing is that the dragster beside it i have owned for the past fourteen years i have heard some history about the car it had two six cylinder motors in it and was called DOUBLE TROUBLE i live in British Columbia and would like any imformation about the car. email mtfrizz@citytel.net Thanks ( i still race the car today)

Jim, re. OLD TRAPPER. Our neighbours in Sherwood Park Alberta raced Old Trapper (I remember it as a yellow car with the name written in log-like letters). Their last name was Ronnigan (not sure of correct spelling; it was 40 years ago). Same car?

this is my fairlane vic halabura it is the same car as the ss/c car in previous
pics this car was a holman & modey car body in white never streeted built only
as a race car was purchased by dominion motors for lorne howard he backed out
of deal and dominion motors hired warren schetler from wpg. to drive and maintain
in 1967. in the spring of 1968 i was selected to rebuild the blowen eng and drive car.
in 68 the car was part of the canadian ford race team raced 7 races won 4 runer up 3
car was destoryed during time trial in spring of 69 at first race of season.

Does anybody know if the blue B/S Dominion Motors Fairlane crashed on page 19 and 20 is the same car as the SS/C version a few pages earlier?
Also does anybody know the story on the 65 Comet on the bottom of page 20? It sort of looks like a car that was in a Vancouver wrecking yard in the late 70's.

I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND MY 1969 HURST SUPER/STOCK AMX ON YOUR WEB SITE.I HAD NEVER SEEN THAT PICTURE BEFORE.MOST OF MY PICTURES WERE DESTROYED WHEN THE CAR WAS BURNED IN 1975.I ALSO RACED IN SASKATOON SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE CAR WAS RED WHITE AND BLUE.

Sure brings back alot of memories. I spent alot of weekends there with my car "Bad Habit" 57 chevy. Didn't make any money but sure had alot of great times and made alot of great friends to remenber.

Greetings,

Just has a chance to go through the SIR photos and it sure brought back a lot of memories. I was one of the announcers through the seventies, but I’ll never forget my first race when it was still called Southwinds Dragway…it was September 1968, I was probably 14 and there were 5 AA/FD and the Banzai Camaro. What a show! One of the fuelers was Jim Crooke’s Assassin, what a beautiful car. Needless to say I was hooked and went to as many races as I could and even started a record of who won when I couldn’t get there and then ended up announcing at the track. Announcing at the track was great, I got to hang out with a bunch of cool people and get some great photos to boot. Anyway, all the best to everyone who helped make SIR a great race track.

DAve - I have some trapper photos. 70 Hemi Cudas, the Hurst Dart and the GTX. Gary Wolosinka's Cuda, Tuff A Nuff, was the first trapper Cuda. Good picture in here of them Wolosinka and Panter squaring off with Tuff A Nuff and the second Trapper 70 HCuda.

Ran the 70 Cuda under the name of TUFF-A-NUFF. Still have the car.

Thanks so much for bringing back some great memories. I was the car builder for the Wheeler Dealer 69 1/9 Road Runner 6 pack car on page 9. I races my own car at SIR in 1969, but didn't see it in the gallery. Oh well, it was a lot of fun to see my old buddies' cars again: Old Trapper (both), Old Blue and a few others.
