I raced at Saskatoon many times from 1968 to 1974. I ran a 1968 javelin 343 4 speed which ran 12.60's in 1968 and led me to buying and running the Hurst AMX pictured above. I also ran a ‘69 ranchero 428 Cobra Jet at Saskatoon several times in 1969. The Hurst car had been changed to a 1970 and all the ‘69 parts had been sold to a guy in Saskatoon. It took most of the summer of 1970 to find the parts to make the car back into a 1969 so it was legal. AMC insisted we paint the car red white and blue again. The car was raced at Saskatoon in the red white and blue scheme several times. The AMC dealer paid for our rooms and meals while we were in Saskatoon and allowed us to work on the car at the dealership, they were good guys. Those were the days AMC helped us out a lot as well as Transcona Motors, an AMC dealer in Winnipeg. We were also sponsored by Woody's Performance Center a speed shop in Winnipeg. We used to bring 6 cars to Saskatoon sponsored by Woody's. One of my good friends in Saskatoon was ZENON KOTELKO. I used to go watch him race at national events. I understand he passed away a few years ago. He was a great guy.
