sounds like the bilmore was based off the tulieres in france...

Richard Morris Hunt, (born Oct. 31, 1827, Brattleboro, Vt., U.S.—died July 31, 1895, Newport, R.I.), architect who established in the United States the manner and traditions of the French Beaux-Arts (Second Empire) style. He was instrumental in establishing standards for professional architecture and building in the United States; he took a prominent part in the founding of the American Institute of Architects and from 1888 to 1891 was its third president. His eclectic work was almost equally successful in the ornate style of the early Renaissance in France, the picturesque villa style, and the monumental Classical style of the Lenox Library.

Hunt studied in Europe (1843–54), mainly at the École des Beaux-Arts (“School of Fine Arts”) in Paris, where he was the first American to be trained. In 1854 he was appointed inspector of works on the buildings connecting the Tuileries with the Louvre. Under Hector Lefuel he designed the Pavillon de la Bibliothèque (“Library Pavilion”), opposite the Palais-Royal.

What a fantastic building. I wonder if the Biltmore mansion was patterned from it?

The color and lighting makes it look like a painting. Beautiful. Is that a private carousel (blue) off to the left?

Interesting place. Such unusual stone color!

Love the color in the walls and especially in the tree! I think this image is perfect except I would like to see a little more white on the edging of the clouds. I think that would make the image more "real" looking. Other than that I really like this image!

The old classic buildings like that are so amazing. No way anyone, even a government, could build something with such character these days.

Fantastic place, wonder how many staff you'd need to keep it clean?
