British Post Boxes

The British Postbox or Letter Box is always red, except in Eire were they are green. They may be all red, but there are many different types and styles. These being Pillar, Wall and Lamp. The lamp design is mainly found on telegraph poles. The first post boxes appeared 1840 when the Royal Mail was formed. The postboxes had the Ciphers of the Head of State. Scottish postboxes now only carry the Scottish Crown
