Male is rather yellow and female pale green, with a wingspan of about 58 mm.
Brimstone lives in woodlands and gardens. It can be found in Europe, Asia and North Africa.
Adults feed on nectar from flowers in meadows.
Female lays its eggs on the underside of leaves, but also on twigs and buds.
This species is widespread in its range.
