Corema alba - Portuguese Crowberry - Camarine à fruits blancs
Corema alba or Corema album belongs to the family Ericaceae.
It occurs along the Atlantic coasts in Andalucía, Portugal, Galicia and Aquitania in SW France.
This plant is about 30-70 cm high and is an evergreen shrub.

The spine-like leaves are dark green.
The flowers gather at tip of every branch and are purple-brown.
The white, rounded berries have a diameter of 6-8 mm.
Corema alba grows in coastal sand dunes in the shade of the pine trees.
The main seed dispersers are gulls, blackbirds and rabbits.
They disperse the seeds according to their habitat preferences.
Corema alba is endemic to Portugal.
