During my stay in Siem Reap, my guide Sokchea, took me to a very remote village a few miles out of Siem Reap: Krobay Riel. The place was untouched by tourism, simple, and revolving around work on the land. The people were not so used to visitors or people taken their photographs. Yet these were some of the best photographic subjects I had. The 12 group portraits of the local boys holding a younger brother, in particualr, are amongst my favourites. It's common for a young child to carry out many of the responsibilities of a parent. The way the baby is held, the look of caring and love in the expressions is beautiful I think. The children themselves were also impressed with the baby's large eyes and gaze when photographed. When I showed them some of the photos taken on the digital camera they found this most amusing and some of the other expression photos show their interest in the expressions themselves.

Other photos show the landscape and little makeshift gas staion, and a boy net fishing in the flooded plains. Sokchea had taken some other visitors here before and they were so taken with the community they donated money to buy the local well which most of the children are photographed by. There is a sign above the well remarking on this, in the first shot.
