Cambodia March 2007

Galleries of photographs from my first visit to Cambodia in March 2007 - armed with a Canon 5D and Voigtlander Bessa R2 rangefinder film camera. The experience was such a good one I decided to return just over two months later, this time alone, and this time just to photograph.

Nick. Just got back from Cambodia. Your shots of S21 are bang on reality wise. Excellent capture of the feeling and emotion in the place. Monochrome was a good choice as well as the not too contrasty look. Very 70’s-esque. You work the super-wide lens real well. Not too weird but just right especially in the tight corners of those brutal detention cells. I echo your comments about S21… this place is well documented and well presented. A definite stop for any tourist no matter what. Our guide too was a direct victim of PP and his freak squads in her early teens. Click on my name to see my Cambodia gallery. Not as extensive as yours but it does touch on the beautiful people, spectacular countryside and active humanitarian efforts in play as do yours. I’d be there now if it weren’t for life getting in the way. Keep up the good work. -Jamie
