Nearly feeding time

Bristol Zoo

This isn't the first time I have been in such close quaters with a fully grown Lion, but what was strange was seeing her so close to Children. It really bought home the size and power of her. You can't quite make out form this image, it was all a bit frantic and I missed much of it from people getting in the shot. But someone found there was a whole in the metal, and if you blew through it the Lion came right over, no doubt she could smell food on our breath. She then jumped up on her hind legs and tried to claw her way through the glass. In this shot you can see her transfixed on the children a few centimetres away on the otherside of the glass...
