INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY

Most of the pictures in this gallery were taken near my hometown ( Middelburg, Netherlands) with Sony DSC-F707/717 camera and infrared filter (mostly Hoya R72 or B+W 093). Starting from april 2006, pictures were taken with an infrared-modified DSC-F717 camera. I enjoy the special atmosphere of infrared, which renders everyday scenes in a completely new light, often dreamlike or surrealistic. Because the gallery keeps growing, some pictures have been moved into separate galleries. These galleries and the newest pictures can be found on the last page of the gallery.

Lovely images Niek..always liked IR but never did much B+W. Your images make me want to get into it with digital. I love those with lots of foliage but all are excellent..Well done again.

I'm not normally an IR fan but these stunning shots are just too good to ignore. I watched them on slide show mode and was awe stuck - thoughtful compositions,beautifully photographed. Big vote Niek!!

Read your review on the Sony DSC-H9 and the problem with finding a correct size filter (74mm). I hot glued a 46mm-49mm adaptor ring to the lens tube and was able to use filters at a much lower cost. There is some vignetting at only the widest view. The hot glue peels off easily if needed to remove the adaptor.

A stunning set if images the i.r. gives a very atmospheric feel to them. Your choice of including the highly reflective trees in the majority of images is very pleasing, I think the windmill image is outstanding.

IR turns mediocre photography into a whole new world....but even if you took away the IR look to these photos...they'd still look breathtaking. Great composition!!
