Sopot - Ivan Vazov's house

On the way back to Sofia, from Plovdiv, we took the "under the Balkan road". Entering the city of Sopot, we stopped to pay respect to one of Bulgaria's greatest writers and poets - Ivan Vazov. His house has been turned into museum. I was interested in the background in wich he lived and worked, inspiring the younger generation to love Bulgaria the way he did.

Beautiful gallery! I grew up in Sopot, until I left Bulgaria when I was 18 years old. My parents still have the flat I grew up in there. Very nice pix! :) I miss the smells of the pine forest and the rose valley, things that were always taken for granted as they were simply always just there.

Photo P5165248.JPG is of the school on the town square. I went there in grades 2 and 3. Brings back so many memories. Thank you.

Hi Nikola, Thanks for the photos. I have visited Sopot nine times since 2002 and this year decided to buy a villa and move to BG in Bozalan district(on the mountain), I just love Sopot.The pics of the cafe with the blue canopy - it's called "Black & White" or in BG "Cherno i Bialo". Bulgaria has a magic of it's own.

This is a wonderful gift to those of us who love Vazov. I am only a Bulgarian by adoption. And although a familiar name to me, I didn't read Vazov until last year. The difficulty in finding his great novel, Under the Yoke, in English caused me to team up with a realtive of the English translator and we just published a beautiful new edition. We will launch it at the Ivan Vazov Museum in Sofia on October 15, 2005. Anyone interested is invited. Again, thank you Nikola.

All of this you had done is just perfect.I am Bulgarian but I Live in America.It was coincidence when I found out this gallery.It is the perfect one.I am sure other people also enjoy it but can you put some pictures of Sliven since it is my hometown.I Love Bulgaria and it si hard for me now away from her.Well I gues that is it.Than you.
