Orchids are among our most beautiful and sought after wildflowers. Note that I photograph them only and DO NOT advocate ever picking them or trying to grow them in your garden. It won't work! They all have extremely specific growing needs such as mycorrhizae in the soil which their roots need to grow. Leave them alone and let them prosper. Native plants belong in the wild. They give us a sense of place, of true wilderness that endures despite our destructive nature. All of the orchids were photographed in NJ.
