Pro1 Vs S400

So many people ask me which camera is going to be the best out of the ones I use myself. The Pro 1 certainly takes a great picture but the s400 has some strengths such as noise-free low light long exposures at 50 ISO... somthing that the Pro 1 is unable to keep up with. I just got through sorting pictures from our recent trip to Canada and Hawaii and discovered that many shots that I had taken with the Pro 1 were replicated by Rena with the s400 at the same ISO. I thought it might be interesting for people considering upgrading to a G~Series camera or even the Pro 1 to see how the higher end Digital Compacts compare with the subcompacts. The s400 is a camera that has really never let me down so it was interesting to compare the two results side-by-side. Both cameras share DiG!C and ASAPs although the Pro 1 has the added luxury of added filters and external flash. However, none of these images have been altered in any way other that resizing. No "unsharpening" or colour enhancements were made either. Take a look and see what takes your fancy. Surprisingly, both cameras perform very well in Macro mode and bothcapture much the same amount of detail when both images are scaled to match. But colour and contrast were another matter....
