This lens is perfect for wild life or outdoor events or sports. It is slower than the 70-200 IS so it needs more light to work properly. The IS on this lens is old, not as good as the one in the 70-200 IS or 24-105 IS. Given enough light, this lens produces nice colors and contrast. I found the push-pull zoom very convenient and fast. This design makes the weight of the zoom less noticeable when it is handheld because the arms extends out as it zooms.

This lens has been used for indoor performances and NBA games when the sufficient lighting existed. it did very well in both applications.
